Code Settings

In the Statistica Reporting Tables dialog box, double-click on a variable in the Variable list to display the Code Settings dialog box. These options provide control over the inclusion or exclusion and sort order of the levels (categories) of a variable.

The field in the center of the dialog box, the codes table, contains an ordered list of the codes for the selected variable. By default, these are the codes found in the currently attached data file. When the report design is saved as an SVB macro, a Statistica Enterprise analysis configuration, or a workspace node, it can later be run against a data set containing different codes. In that case, the recorder form will prefer text over numeric values when attempting to match input codes to design codes.

Each row of the codes list shows both the numeric and text value of the known codes. The Include check boxes determine whether cases having this code value are to be included or excluded from the analysis.

Code. Type the numeric value of a new category in this text box.

Text Label. Type the text value of a new category in this text box.

Add Code. After entering the code and/or text label for a new code, click the Add Code button to create a new row for that code in the codes table.

Select All. Click this button to mark all codes for inclusion (all the Include check boxes will be selected). Individual codes can then be excluded by clearing their check boxes.

Clear All. Click this button to exclude all codes (all the Include check boxes will be cleared). Individual codes can then be included by selecting their check boxes.

Toggle All. Click this button to reverse the settings of the Include check boxes in all rows of the codes table.

Allow unlisted levels at runtime. When this check box is selected, all codes found in the input are included except the known codes that are not checked in the codes list. When this check box is cleared, only those codes that are checked for inclusion in the codes list will be included, any unknown codes found in the input will be excluded.

The order of the codes list can be controlled by dragging and dropping individual rows. When the variable is assigned to one of the breakdown axes (Layers, Row Label, or Column Label) the Level ordering parameter in the Parameters Settings dialog box can be set to User-Specified Order to apply the order set here. Any codes not found in the table will be sorted after those in the table and before the missing value, using the Ascending (natural order) method.
