Statistica Reporting Tables

Ribbon bar. Open a data file. Select the Data tab. In the Transformations group, click Reporting Tables to display the Statistica Reporting Tables dialog box. Reporting Tables can also be accessed on the Streaming DB Connector tab in the Data group when using Streaming Database Connectors.

Classic menus. Open a data file. On the Data menu, select Reporting Table to display the Statistica Reporting Tables dialog box.

Expand Preview Summary/Collapse Preview Summary. The Preview Summary pane displays what one page of the report will look like with the current settings and current input file. You can toggle between expanding the Summary Preview pane and collapsing it. Click the Refresh Preview button located at the right side of the dialog box to refresh the Preview Summary; it does not update automatically after every setting change.

Choose fields to add to report. This pane contains the Variable Name list. You can drag-and-drop these variables into the axis panes (Layers, Column Label, Row Label, or S Placement). Derived variables (created via the Multiple Response or Crosstable Group options - see below) can be deleted from this pane, while input variables (the variables in the data set) cannot be deleted. The parameters of the input variables and the derived variables can be adjusted by double-clicking on their name to display the Code Settings dialog box. It is possible to customize the sort order and include/exclude codes for Input variables via the Code Settings dialog box.

Derived variables. This group box contains buttons for creating new derived variables, which will be placed in the Variable Name list automatically after creation.

Multiple Response. Click this button to display the Multiple Response dialog box, which contains options to create or modify a multiple response or multiple dichotomy variable group.

Crosstable Group. Click this button to display the Crosstable Group dialog box, which contains options to define a set of categorical input variables to be handled specially.

Drag fields between areas below. This group box contains four axis definition panes. Layers, Column Label, and Row Label (the breakdown axes) accept a hierarchical combination of categorical (or derived) variables. S (sigma) Placement accepts a simple list of variables for which specified statistics are to be included in the report.

Two option buttons are available in the S Placement axis pane, which are used to specify Row or Column placement for the statistics list (the default is Column). Also available is a check box (Suppress all statistics names) to suppress the headings that identify the statistics for a cleaner-looking report when the meaning is clear without headings.

Summary. Click this button to generate a complete set of output tables based on the current input and settings. If the Layers axis is in use, the output will consist of a sequence of spreadsheets; otherwise, a single spreadsheet is produced.

Cancel. Click this button to close the Statistica Reporting Tables dialog box.

Options. Click this button to display a menu containing the following commands.

Create Macro. Select this command to create a script of the current report design (all dialog box and axes settings) as a new SVB macro document; save the macro to a file if you want to keep it beyond the current session.

Minimize. Select this command to minimize the dialog box. A Statistica Reporting... button will be displayed on the Analysis Bar at the lower-left of the Statistica window. Click the button to maximize the dialog box.

Close Analysis. Click this button to close the Statistica Reporting Tables dialog box.

Refresh Preview. Click this button after making changes to refresh the Preview Summary.

Select Cases. Click this button to display the Analysis/Graph Case Selection Conditions dialog box, which is used to create conditions for which cases will be included (or excluded) in the analysis. More information is available in the case selection conditions overview and syntax summary.

Weights
Click this button to display the Analysis/Graph Case Weights dialog box, which is used to adjust the contribution of individual cases to the outcome of an analysis by "weighting" those cases in proportion to the values of a selected variable. When case weights are enabled, there are two different treatments available: Case Multipliers are the default unless the Weighted moments check box is selected (see the next option description).
Weighted moments
Select this check box to specify that each observation contributes the weighting variable's value for that observation. The weight values need not be integers. This module can use fractional case weights in most computations. This option is available only after you have defined a weight variable via the Weights option described above. When Weighted moments are in effect, two different formulas can be selected for Degrees of Freedom (used in certain classical statistics), one based on the sum of weights and the other based on the number of cases (see the next option description).
DF = W-1 / N-1
When the Weighted moments check box is selected, some statistics related to the moments (e.g., standard deviations and variances, skewness, kurtosis) can be based on the sum of the weight values for the weighting variable (W-1), or on the number of (unweighted) observations (N-1). The sums (and means), and sums of squares and cross products will always be based on the weighted values of the respective observations. However, in computations requiring the degrees of freedom (e.g., standard deviation, t-test, etc.), the value for the degrees of freedom can either be computed as the sum of the weight values minus one, or as the number of observations minus one. Moment statistics (except for the mean) are based on the sum of the weight values for the weighting variable if the W-1 option button is selected, and are based on the number of (unweighted) observations if the N-1 option button is selected. When the Weighted moments check box is selected, several graphics options will not be available. For more information on options for using integer case weights, see Selecting a Weighting Variable.

Settings. Click this button to display the Global Settings dialog box, which contains some less frequently used parameters and defaults.

Deploy to Enterprise. Click this button to create a new Analysis Configuration based on the report definition settings (if you have appropriate permissions in the Statistica Enterprise installation).
