Edit Custom Function
Click the Edit button in the Function Name Manager (after selecting an existing 2D custom function) to display the Edit Custom Function dialog box.
- Type
- Use the Type drop-down box to select either a standard 2D Function (y=f(x)) or a Parametric curve. Note that the remainder of the dialog box will change depending on what is selected here.
- Range of X; Range of Parameter t
- If the specified Type is a standard 2D Function, then use the Range of X group box to specify the X range (i.e., Minimum and Maximum values) for the custom function. Note that additional options for controlling these ranges are available on the Graph Options dialog box - (2D) Custom Function tab. If the specified Type is Parametric curve, then specify here the Range of Parameter t (in a Parametric Curve function, the plot positions for each point on the plotted line on the horizontal x-axis and vertical y-axis is computed by evaluating the functions Y(t) and X(t) of parameter t).
- Function guide
- Select the Function guide check box to display a list of possible functions and related properties when you enter a custom function.
- Function Y =; Y(t) = and X(t) =
- If the specified Type is a standard 2D Function, then use the Y= box to type in the function you want to plot; if the specified Type is Parametric curve, then specify here the two functions Y(t) = and X(t) =. Note that if you have selected the Function guide check box, a menu with possible characters or functions will appear as you type.
