Graphs of Block Data - Box Plot: Block Columns

When you select a block of data in a spreadsheet, right-click on the selected block of data, and select Graphs of Block Data - Box Plot: Block Columns from the resulting shortcut menu, a separate box plot of medians (and min/max values and 25th and 75th percentiles) is created for each of the columns in the block. Each box plot is displayed in a separate graph window.

You can also access this functionality by selecting a block by the following processes:

Ribbon bar

  1. Select the Graphs tab.
  2. In the More group, click Block Data Graphs.
  3. From the menu, select Box Plot: Block Columns.

Classic menus

On the Graphs - Graphs of Block Data submenu, select Box Plot: Block Columns.

Steps to include all plots in one graph window:

  1. Access the Graphs of Block Data - Box Plot: Block Columns menu, using any of the above described methods.
  2. Select Custom Graph from Block by Column.
  3. In the Select Graph dialog box, click the More button.
  4. Select the Single Window (Overlaid) option button.
  5. Click the OK button.

Steps to create a box plot of medians for each of the rows in the block:

  1. Access the Graphs of Block Data - Box Plot: Block Columns menu, using any of the above described methods.
  2. Select Graphs of Block Data.
  3. Custom Graph from Block by Row.

To create box plots for entire variables (columns) or cases (rows) :

  1. Access the Graphs of Block Data - Box Plot: Block Columns menu, using any of the above described methods.
  2. Select Graphs of Block Data.,
  3. Select Custom Graph for Entire Column or  Graphs of Block Data.
  4. Select Custom Graph for Entire Row.

You can use these Custom Graphs to create a variety of types of box plots such as the following:

  • Mean/SE/SD
  • Mean/SD/1.96*SD
  •  Mean/SE/1.96*SE
