Introduction

The Organization Browser is used to perform tasks such as browse an organization model, create LDAP containers, map resources to groups and positions, edit resource information, etc.

For example:

  • Browsing the organization model - This allows you to see all of the organizational entities (groups, positions, etc.) that have been defined in your organization model. You can also see which resources (users) have been mapped/assigned to those organizational entities, as well as view information such as which privileges and capabilities are held by an individual resource.

For information, see Browsing the Organization Model.

  • Creating an LDAP container - An LDAP container contains one or more LDAP sources, which hold information about available resources (users). You must have at least one LDAP container from which you can choose resources to map to the organization.

For information, see Creating an LDAP Container.

  • Creating and Deleting Resources - You can directly create a resource without mapping that resource to the organization. This allows the resource to log in to the BPM application, but the resource will not receive work items until after being mapped to a group or position in the organization. Resources can also be deleted, preventing them from logging in.

For information, see Creating Resources and Deleting Resources.

  • Mapping resources - This involves assigning resources to specific groups and/or positions in an organization model. This allows the resources to log in and receive work items that are sent to the organization entities to which they have been mapped.

    For information, see Mapping Resources.

  • Editing Organizational Entity Information - At this time, the only organizational entity items that can be edited are push destinations. These specify where work items sent to an organizational entity are to be “pushed”.

For information, see Editing Organizational Entity Push Destinations.

  • Editing Resource Information - You can edit various resource-related information using the Resource Editor. This includes things such as the capabilities possessed by the resource, resource attribute values, push destinations, etc.

The Resource Editor can also be used to map resources to the desired groups and positions.

    For information, see Resource Information.

Note: There are two Organization Browsers available in TIBCO ActiveMatrix BPM. One is accessible through the Workspace client -- it is described in this document. The other one is accessible through the Openspace client -- the documentation for that Organization Browser is available with the Openspace documentation.
