How to Create Business Data

This tutorial shows you how to use TIBCO Business Studio to create a business object model and populate it with business data.

You should work through each section in turn to complete the tutorial.

Before you start this tutorial, you can become familiar with TIBCO Business Studio by completing the initial WelcomeUsers tutorials.

  1. Creating a New Project
    A project is the basic container that you use to store all the artifacts needed by your business processes, including the business object model.
  2. Creating a Package
    Packages are containers, which you can use to organize classes and other business objects.
  3. Saving the Business Object Model
    In this task, you save the business object model.
  4. Creating a Class and its Attributes
    A class is a set of properties that belong together. It can contain attributes, each of which represents an individual piece of information.
  5. Creating and Applying a Primitive Type
    Primitive types are data types. Certain commonly-used data types - Text, Integer, Date, and so on - are delivered with the Business Object Modeler. You can define your own primitive types to add to the delivered types, in order to suit the specific requirements of your business.
  6. Creating a Generalization
    Relationships indicate connections between objects in a business object model. Connections can be generalizations or compositions.
  7. Creating a Composition
    A composition connects two classes, and it indicates that one of the two classes contains the other.
