Creating a Classification Scheme

You can create the following types of classification schemes:

  • Repository attributes (simple): A simple classification scheme. The first attribute mapped is the first level and so on. The taxonomy is a concatenation of all the mapped attributes.

  • Rulebase (complex): The rulebase is used to get the classification scheme codes. The rulebase must be uploaded when creating the classification scheme. With the rulebase-based classification scheme you can classify records under more than one classification code.

Note: The type of classification scheme (attribute-based or rulebase-based) cannot be changed once it is created. A composite classification scheme, involving both attribute-based and rulebase-based expressions, is not supported.
Note: When a new classification scheme is created, all the records in the repository are classified. This process takes some time to complete. During this period, if you browse the classification scheme, all the classification codes and records might not be displayed until the process is complete.

When a classification scheme is created, a log file is created in the $MQ_COMMON_DIR/Temp directory. The log file has a sext_ prefix and a .log extension.
Any errors that occur during the schema extraction are logged to the $MQ_HOME/log/elink.log file.

The following sections talk about creating a classification scheme based on repository attributes and rulebase, respectively:
