Architectural Considerations for your Migration
The TIBCO Spotfire Statistics Services server was designed as a stand-alone server that could work independently or within your Spotfire environment deployment, whereas each of the Spotfire Statistics Services is designed to work as service running on a Spotfire node.
After you have downloaded, installed, and configured any or all of the services as described in their individual Installation and Administration guides, your Spotfire Server environment should change to similarly resemble the diagram on the right . (Each of the computers running nodes can run as clusters, as shown.) Users of Spotfire Analyst who are running data functions written in TERR or R should experience no difference in behavior.
- TIBCO Spotfire Statistics Services server
The TIBCO Spotfire Statistics Services server was a light-weight stand-alone server, based largely on WebDAV, Apache Tomcat, and JMX, with RESTful C# and Java APIs for custom application development. (These APIs were deprecated in version 12.0 of Spotfire Statistics Services.) The URL API provided a simple URL-based service to access server health information. You could deploy TIBCO Spotfire Statistics Services server as a single server or in a server cluster of either Windows or Linux servers. - Spotfire Statistics Services
The various Spotfire Statistics Services can run in containers (on Linux), or simply be installed as a service on a Spotfire Server node. - Differences in design
The following table provides a high-level description of a few key differences between the TIBCO Spotfire Statistics Services server and the data function services.
