System requirements for Spotfire® Automation Services – Service, version 12.1

Hardware
Processor
  • Minimum: 2 cores, (Intel Core i3 or equivalent) 2 GHz, 64-bit
  • Recommended: 4 cores or more (Intel Xeon E5 or equivalent), 2 GHz or higher, 64-bit
Note: As a guideline, it is recommended to have at least one core per concurrent Automation Services job. The number of concurrent jobs is controlled by the maxConcurrentJobs setting; by default, maxConcurrentJobs is set to the number of cores on the computer. After this limit has been met, system performance will generally benefit more from higher clock speed than additional cores.
Note: Only amd64 (also known as x64, x86_64) architecture is supported.
RAM
  • Minimum: 16 GB
  • Recommended: 16 to ~50 GB per instance. If more than 50 GB RAM is available per instance, it is generally more beneficial to add an additional instance.
The minimum amount of RAM is normally sufficient for standard usage. For production servers, more memory may be needed if you are running many concurrent jobs and/or using analysis files with a large memory footprint. Contact TIBCO for further assistance with this.
Hard disk space
  • Minimum: 10 GB
  • Recommended: 10 GB is recommended for installation and normal use. If you are running many concurrent jobs and/or using very large analysis files, more space may be needed.
Software
Operating system The following operating systems are supported:
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2022
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2019
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2016
  • Debian 11
Note: Only 64-bit versions of the operating systems are supported.
.NET On Windows:
  • Microsoft .NET Framework version 4.8.

On Linux:

  • Microsoft ASP.NET Core Runtime 6
Note: You must have administrator rights to install .NET Framework or ASP.NET Core Runtime 6.
Spotfire software Connection to a Spotfire® Server 12.1.x, with a Spotfire 12.1.x deployment.
Note: It is recommended to run the Spotfire Automation Services service on a dedicated system (physical or virtual) - not shared with a Spotfire Server or other applications.
Installation permissions Spotfire Automation Services Service 12.1.x must be installed under a Windows user account with full administrative privileges.
Microsoft Office (optional)

To use Spotfire functionality that integrates with Microsoft Office products, such as exporting to PowerPoint, importing data from Access, and importing data from older versions of Excel, Microsoft Office must be installed.

The following versions of Microsoft Office are supported:

  • Microsoft Office 365
  • Microsoft Office 2019, 64-bit version
  • Microsoft Office 2016, 64-bit version
  • Microsoft Office 2013, 64-bit version
Note: An alternative to installing Microsoft Office is to install only the drivers: Office System Driver: Data Connectivity Components

(also referred to as "Microsoft Access Database Engine").

Connectors (optional)

If you are using Spotfire Connectors to access data in external systems, note that additional system requirements might apply, including that a data source driver for the connector typically must be installed.
