System requirements for connectors in TIBCO Spotfire® 12.0 LTS

Requirements that apply to all connectors

To use connectors that require a data source driver, the driver must be installed on the computer that is running the connector.

That means that if you want to work with a connector using the web client, or using Automation Services, you must install the driver on the computer running the Web Player or Automation Services service.
