Spotfire® Server and Environment - Installation and Administration

Adding a name or description to a version

When library version history is enabled, you can name a specific version, or add a comment to it, to easily determine the content or status of that particular version of a file.

About this task

You can add names like, Draft 1, Draft 2, and include in the comments what has been added in each version. Once you have reached a suitable level for an analysis, you can add a name describing that the item is ready for production, or similar.
Tip: When a version has been named or commented, you can search for a particular word in the name or comment of the latest version available using the search keywords version_name or version_comment. Use wildcards (*) to search for a word within a longer phrase.

Before you begin

Library versioning must be switched on and you must have editing rights.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the Spotfire Server web administration pages and click Library.
  2. Browse or search for the file of interest.
  3. Right-click the row of the item and select View version history, or open the details panel and click Version history.
  4. In the Version history list to the right, click on the menu at the end of the row of the version of interest and select Edit name and comment.
  5. Enter a Version name and/or a Comment and click Save.

Results

The version name is shown in the Version history panel and an icon is shown to indicate that a comment has been added. Hover with the mouse pointer over the icon to see the comment in a tooltip, or click on the icon to see the comment (or the beginning of the comment, if it is long) in a popover.
