Spotfire® Server and Environment - Installation and Administration

Editing folder permissions

If you have Full control permission for a folder, and access to the Spotfire web administration pages, you can change the permissions for the folder from the details view in the library.

Read more about how permissions work in Library permissions.

Note: To delete, move or edit an item from the library web view, a user must also have the Spotfire Business Author > Spotfire Business Author license feature (even if they have Browse (+ Modify + Access) rights to the library folder).

Before you begin

To edit the permissions for a folder, you must have Full control permission for the folder.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the Spotfire Server web administration pages and click Library.
  2. Browse or search for the folder you want to edit permissions for.
  3. Right-click the folder and select View permissions, or open the details panel and then click Permissions.
  4. Click Edit permissions at the top of the details panel.
  5. In the Edit permissions dialog, select whether you want the folder to inherit permissions from its parent folder, or if you want to specify explicit permissions for it by selecting or clearing Inherit permissions from parent folder. If you choose to inherit permissions then you cannot specify any more details. Click Save and you are done. If you choose to define explicit permissions, proceed to the next step.
  6. When you clear the Inherit permissions from parent folder check box, the permissions the folder used to inherit are converted to explicitly specified permissions. This gives you a template to work from. To modify the level for a group or user that already has a permission level specified, click the current level next to the group or user and select a new permissions level from the drop-down list. To remove a group or user completely, click Remove permission at the end of the row.
  7. Optionally, you can add more groups or users to the list. In the search field, type the name of the user or group you want to add permissions for.
  8. Select the appropriate user or group in the list, click the Add permission button , and select the permission level they should receive.
  9. Repeat steps 6 to 8 until you have updated or added all the groups and users to the permissions level you want.
  10. When you are done, click Save.
