Spotfire® Server and Environment - Installation and Administration

Updating node managers

When you add a node manager software update to the appropriate deployment area, an Update button is displayed in the information pane for each affected node.

Before you begin

A software update is in the node manager's deployment area. For instructions, see Adding software packages to a deployment area.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the Spotfire Server web administration pages and click Nodes & Services.
  2. On the Network page, under Node managers, click the node manager that you want to update.
In the upper-right pane there is an Update button.
  3. Click Update, and then, in the confirmation dialog, click Update again.
A message indicates that the update has started, and the Status line indicates that the node is offline.
Note: If updating a node takes a very long time, you can try to increase the nodemanager.worker-threads value in the server configuration (configuration.xml or using the set-config-prop CLI command), if your system resources allows it. These threads are used for scheduled tasks such as periodic health checks, scheduled updates, and other types of job handling.

To identify an appropriate value, you can check the metrics for ScheduledThreadPoolExecutor.Pool.Active in the performance.monitoring.log files.

Results

When the Roll back button appears in the upper-right pane, the update is complete.

If you want to cancel the update and return to the previous node manager version, see Rolling back a node manager update.
