Quick Tab
The Quick tab of the Partial Least Squares Models Startup Panel contains a list of common regression analysis and experimental designs (see Types of Analyses in the Introductory Overview), and provides access to the three different user interfaces available in the STATISTICA General Partial Least Squares Models module (these types of user interfaces are also available in STATISTICA General Linear Models (GLM), Generalized Linear/Nonlinear Models (GLZ), General Regression Models (GRM), General Discriminant Analysis Models, and ANOVA modules).
The links listed below are to topics that briefly describe the different designs in the context of the General Linear Models (GLM) module (and provide links to more detailed descriptions). The parameterization of the different models (i.e., the computation of the design matrix) is identical to that used in the GLM module, and you can refer to the GLM module Introductory Overview (the Types of Analyses section) for additional details.
- Type of analysis
- The Types of analysis list presents a list of common regression analysis and experimental designs (see also the Introductory Overview of the GLM module). Note that all types of designs can be specified via the General linear models option. Select the type of design that you want to perform from the list of options that are available. For more information on a particular type of analysis, click on the appropriate link below.
- Specification method
- The Specification method list presents the three alternative user-interfaces available in PLS (as well as GLM, GLZ, GRM, GDA, and ANOVA) for specifying analyses. When Quick specs dialog is selected as the Specification method, all options in the Type of analysis list are available. When either Analysis Wizard or Analysis syntax editor is selected, only the General linear models option is available in the Type of analysis list. Note that all types of designs can be specified via the General linear models option, and when you choose the Analysis Wizard option, STATISTICA will guide you through the necessary steps to specify your analysis.
- Quick specs dialog
- Select Quick specs dialog to use the respective Quick Specs dialog box corresponding to the current selection in the Type of analysis list. The Quick Specs dialog will prompt you to select dependent variable(s) and categorical and/or continuous predictor variables (depending on the selection in the Type of analysis list), and construct a default model. Use the Quick Specs dialog - Options tab to modify various computational details, or the Syntax editor button on the Quick Specs dialog to further customize the model via PLS syntax.
- Analysis Wizard
- Select Analysis Wizard to use a sequence of dialogs that will guide you through the steps for specifying an analysis. At the conclusion of the sequence of dialogs, you can either compute the results or click the Syntax editor button on the PLS Analysis Wizard Extended Options dialog box to further customize the model via command syntax, open an existing file with command syntax, or save syntax in a file for future repetitive use. Note that selecting Analysis Wizard automatically moves the Type of analysis selection to General linear models. You can't use the Analysis Wizard with any other type of analysis.
- Analysis syntax editor
- Select Analysis syntax editor to specify a model via the
PLS Analysis Syntax Editor. This editor contains various options for specifying designs and for modifying various parameters of the computational procedures. You can also open an existing text file with command syntax, or save syntax in a file for future repetitive use. Refer to the description of
PLS Syntax for addition details. Note that selecting Analysis syntax editor automatically moves the Type of analysis selection to General linear models. You can't use the Analysis syntax editor with any other type of analysis.
