Results - Sets Tab

Control Charts for Variables vs. Charts for Attributes

Select the Sets tab of the Results dialog box to access the options described here. Note that if Sets were defined on the Sets tab of the Defining Variables dialog box, the only available option on this tab will be Summary Specification for all sets. See also, The Nature of Sets.

Make-a-new-set Wizard
Click this button to display a series of dialog boxes to guide you through the process of defining a set: Label (name) for the new set of samples, Compute the set from ranges or codes, Specify the range of samples for computing the set statistics, Specify the coding variable and code for the computations, Apply the set statistics and specifications to ranges or . . ., and Specify the application range for the set. If you prefer to not use the wizard, you can specify the relevant information for your set by using the options under Specs for new or modified set and then clicking the Create set button (see below). After you have established sets, you can select sets (for modifying, etc.) using the respective drop-down list or the Set << >> buttons.
Set << >>
Use these buttons to choose which set to work with.
Specs for new or modified set
As an alternative to using the Make-a-new-set Wizard, you can create new sets (or modify existing sets) using the options given in this box.
Label
Type the name for the new or modified set in the text box provided.
Compute from
When you select this option button, you can specify whether to compute the new set from a range of consecutive samples or from samples marked by a coding variable. You may also choose to compute the set from all samples and new samples.

When computing from a consecutive range of samples, you will need to specify the range of samples to use in the drop-down lists From and To. When computing from a coding variable, you need to specify which variable contains the codes (use the Vars button) and which codes to use.

Apply to
When you select this option button, you can specify whether to apply the statistics and specifications from the new set to a range of samples, to samples marked by a coding variable, or to all samples.

When applying to a range of samples, you will need to specify the range of samples to use in the drop-down lists From and To. When applying to samples with a coding variable, you need to specify which variable contains the codes (use the Vars button) and which codes to use.

Create set
Once you have defined all the specs for the new set, click the Create set button to create the set.
Update
If you are modifying an existing set, click the Update button to refresh the set's specifications.
Delete
You can delete the currently selected set by clicking the Delete button.
Summary specifications for all sets
Click this button to generate spreadsheets for each set indicating the specifications for that set.
