Spotfire for the Mac

Setting Preferences to Capture Support Analytics

In the case where you need help with troubleshooting problems with Spotfire Analytics for macOS, you can set preferences to capture important usage analytics to a log file that you can send to Spotfire Support.

About this task

Within the Spotfire Analytics for macOS app, use the Preferences dialog box to create a log of the usage and send to Spotfire Support.
Note: Because logging app activity can decrease app performance, this setting should be enabled only to report an issue to Spotfire Support. (No passwords or sensitive data are kept in the log.)

Procedure

  1. From the menu, click Spotfire > Preferences.
  2. Click the Support tab.
  3. Select the check box Enable logging.
All activity in the app is now logged to a file that can be sent to Spotfire Support.
  4. Perform the activity to be logged in the app.
  5. Click Email Support.
Your default email client (usually Apple Mail) is launched with the Spotfire Support email address entered, and the app usage log included in the body of the message.
  6. Email the log to yourself, and then save the log to a text file.
  7. Open a support ticket with Spotfire Support and attach the text file containing the log to the ticket.
