PLS
Select Partial Least Squares (PLS) from either the Multivariate Statistical Process Control Startup Panel Quick tab or the PCA/PLS Startup Panel Quick tab, and click the OK button to display the PLS dialog box. Note that you can also double-click on Partial Least Squares (PLS) to display the dialog box, which contains five tabs: Quick, NIPALS, Fitting, Options, and Advanced.
Use these options to analyze data using the method of Partial Least Squares (PLS) for regression or classification problems. Classification-type problems are generally those where you attempt to predict values of a categorical dependent variable (class, group membership, etc.) from one or more continuous and/or categorical predictors. By contrast, regression-type problems are generally those where you attempt to predict the values of a continuous variable from one or more continuous and/or categorical predictor variables.
In addition, PLS can also be used for dimensionality reduction of the predictor variables as well as for process monitoring and quality control. The latter two can be naturally achieved in a PLS analysis using variable diagnostics and outlier detection techniques.

Open Data | Click the Open Data button to display the Select Data Source dialog box, which contains options to choose the spreadsheet on which to perform the analysis. The Select Data Source dialog box contains a list of the spreadsheets that are currently active. |
Select Cases | Click the Select Cases button to display the Analysis/Graph Case Selection Conditions dialog box, which contains options to create conditions for which cases will be included (or excluded) in the current analysis.
