Method of Categorization
- Method of Categorization (or Intervals)
- Method of Categorization - Boundaries
- Method of Categorization - Categories
Enter the desired number of categories in the edit box to the right of this option. The program will divide the entire range of values of the selected variable (from minimum to maximum) into the requested number of equal length intervals. Cases with values of the selected variable that belong to each interval will compose one category. When you select this option, the Change Variable button in this box allows you to select a different variable whose values will be categorized in the graph. - Method of Categorization - Codes
Select the Codes option button if the selected variable contains codes from which you want to specify the categories. - Method of Categorization - Integer Mode
When you select this method, Statistica will truncate each encountered value of the selected variable to an integer value, and create one category (or graph in the case of categorized graphs) for each integer. When you select this option, the Change Variable button in this box allows you to select a different variable whose values will be categorized in the graph. Note that if the number of integer categories exceeds 1,000, Statistica will automatically change the method of categorization to Categories (see below) with 16 categories. - Method of Categorization - Unique Values
When you select this method, Statistica will create one category (or graph in the case of categorized graphs) for each unique value. The unique values can be either floating point or integral, and Statistica can handle up to 1,000 unique values. - Method of Categorization - Multiple Subset
