Clock Synchronization, Affiliated Realm Servers, and Persistence

Persistence servers depend on clock synchronization among affiliated realm servers.

Ensure clock synchronization among affiliated realm server hosts to within a few milliseconds.

When persistence servers in a cluster communicate with one another, they rely on timestamps that they receive from the realm server. If the realm server moves to a different host computer, and its clock is not synchronized with the previous host, then the persistence servers could have difficulty forming a quorum.

For example, this difficulty could occur after switching operations to a disaster recovery site, or after promoting a backup realm server to replace the primary realm server.

If you encounter this difficulty, consider forcing a quorum; see Before Forcing a Quorum.
