Upgrading TIBCO FTL Components

When upgrading to Release 5.4, the order in which you upgrade components depends on the release from which you upgrade.

Upgrading from Release 4.1 and Later

  1. Upgrade all realm servers.
  2. Upgrade all persistence servers, and other services, such as authentication services and transport bridge processes.
  3. Upgrade application programs to the new client library and restart your application processes.

    You must do this step last. Older client libraries are compatible with newer servers, but servers older than Release 4.3 could be incompatible with client libraries from Release 5.0 and later.

Upgrading from Release 4.0

The order in which you upgrade components is critical.
  1. Upgrade all persistence servers.
  2. Upgrade all realm servers.

Procedure

  1. Upgrading Persistence Servers
    If your enterprise uses persistence servers, you must upgrade them when migrating to a new release of TIBCO FTL software.
  2. Upgrading Realm Servers
    Old and new realm servers can coexist during upgrade migration, which enables continuous service. The realm server maintains its database state on the file system, facilitating straightforward migration to new releases.
