Overview

This manual is intended for anyone who must understand and respond to Substation ES messages—an audience that includes system operators, system programmers, and administration staff.

You can refer to this manual for the meaning of a message without understanding the manual as a whole. Your understanding of Substation ES is enhanced by knowledge of the types of messages Substation ES produces. Knowledge of the messages includes understanding the different destinations to which Substation ES sends messages and the different audiences the messages are intended to reach.

Substation ES issues messages generated within the application and relays messages produced by Substation ES Agents. z/OS facilities and features assist in delivering these messages to you in different ways and to different locations.

The messages listed in this book also include those that can be issued by various batch facilities of Substation ES. You can use the information in conjunction with the output of a batch job to get more detailed information.

Note: All numeric response and reason code values are shown in decimal by default. A hexadecimal value might be included when that value is received from IBM macros and facilities.
