Manually Selecting and Merging Records

Manually select multiple records to merge into one record. The primary selected record is treated as the target record. All the remaining selected records are treated as the source records. You can select the attribute values and relationships from source records and merge them into the target record.

Prerequisites

To perform the merge operation, ensure that the Manual Merge and Modify record level resource security permission are enabled for you.
Warning: The Merge option on the Browse and Search page is disabled in the following cases:

Procedure

  1. Click Browse and Search.
  2. From the Repository Name drop-down list, select the repository whose records you want to merge.
  3. Click View All.
    A list of all records is displayed.
  4. Select two or more records that you want to merge, and then click .
  5. Click Primary for that record's attributes to be used for the target record. The rest of the records become the source records.

    The selected primary record is displayed in the Result column.
    Warning: You must select the primary record before you click VALIDATE or MERGE.
  6. Optional: Merge attributes by dragging and dropping to the target record or double-click the attribute in the target record to inline edit. You can also double-click on the attribute value to assign value from the source records.
  7. Optional steps:
    • Click VALIDATE to perform the validation process.
    • Click RESET to reset the records selected for merging.
    • Drag and drop values from the source or matched record to the result column.
    • Edit any of the attributes in the result column by double clicking on the cell. If you want to go back to the original value, click the arrow .
  8. Click MERGE.
    The SUMMARY window is displayed with the target records and the source records.

  9. Optional: Select the check box if you want to delete the source record.
  10. Click SUBMIT.
    The target record is saved and the source record is deleted based on the selection done in the SUMMARY window . The Record Merge (wfin26productmanualmergev1.xml) event is generated.
