Credentials
Credentials are used to identify a Company to its backend systems. A credential is a unique identification for a selling organization (supplier) in electronic datapools. Most of the credentials are assigned by standard bodies such as GLN, is assigned by 1Sync and DUNs numbers are assigned by Standard and Poor. You can also define mutually agreed credentials which establish private credentials with a backend system.
A company may choose to define multiple credentials to identify itself to its backend systems and datapools.
(GDSN Only) On the Company profile, credentials are extended to add additional information specific to the Datapool, and company association to the company credentials defined already.
The constraints currently used to validate the uniqueness of credentials for different organization types are:
Basic credentials unique in an organization.
Basic credentials unique across companies.
Basic credentials unique in a company.
(GDSN Only) Extended credentials unique across companies. These constraints are implemented using predefined seed data and cannot be changed using the UI.
One GLN per Company.
One GLN per Organization per Channel.
There are four different types of Organizations that the application supports. The constraints that are applicable to them are:
- Supplier: Constraints 1, 2 and 4 apply to this Organization type.
- Retailer: Constraints 1, 2 and 4 apply to this Organization type.
- (GDSN Only) Datapool: Constraints 1 and 5 apply to this Organization type.
- Backend system: Constraints 1 and 6 apply to this Organization type.
The Credentials section of the My Company Profile screen allows you to create a new credential for a backend system.
