Work Item Lock Permissions for Administrator

The following are the work item lock permissions for administrators.

  • An Administrator can lock the work item assigned to any user. The lock is held for the Administrator, even if the Administrator does not own the work item.
  • An Administrator can unlock a work item even if it is locked by another user. An Administrator can view any work item and make changes to records within the work item even if it is locked by another user. However, the Administrator cannot submit the work item without first unlocking it.
  • If an Administrator reassigns a work item, the lock is automatically removed if the lock was held by the Administrator. If the lock is owned by another user, reassignment can still be done, but the lock is not released.
  • If automatic locking is set, when a work item is opened, it will be locked. If the lock was already held by the Administrator, it will be renewed if the locking method is set to relative. The lock is not released when the user exits the work item using Cancel. For an Administrator, the lock is obtained only if the work item is not already locked by another user.
