Guidelines for Applying Effective Dates to Relationships

The following guidelines help you to apply the future date to relationships:

  • If you have added EFFECTIVEDATE attribute to a repository, you must add the same attribute to its relationship, else an error message is displayed.
  • If either of the parent or child record is marked with a future effective date, you must apply the future effective date to a relationship.
  • If a relationship is marked with a future effective date, participating records may or may not be marked with future effective date.
  • A relationship’s future effective date must be the same or later than the participant records' future effective dates.
  • For every data change that happens to a future dated version of a record, TIBCO MDM creates a new version of record. If the change includes the future date and other data, a confirmation message is displayed to indicate whether to create a new version or change the existing version.
