Introduction to TIBCO ActiveMatrix BPM Components and Services

TIBCO ActiveMatrix BPM is implemented as a number of independent components that expose services, exploiting the benefits of the Service Component Architecture (SCA) provided by the TIBCO ActiveMatrix runtime.

These components are grouped into a set of logical nodes, of different types. (A logical node is a heterogeneous group of application fragments that must be deployed to the same physical node.)

TIBCO ActiveMatrix BPM - logical nodes and services provides an overview of this architecture, illustrating:

  • the main interactions between logical nodes.
  • the main external services provided by TIBCO ActiveMatrix BPM.

TIBCO ActiveMatrix BPM logical node and service summaries briefly summarizes the main functions provided by each logical node type.

Logical Node Description
Process Manager Provides a collection of services that deals with the management of the process:
  • Process services - which execute business process management applications that have been designed in TIBCO Business Studio and deployed to the BPM runtime.
  • Event Collection services - which collect and correlate business process events.
  • Calendar services - which provide services such as working time and working availability information for BPM entities.
Work Manager Provides a collection of services that deals with the management of human resources:
  • Business Data services - which are used to create, update, read, delete and search for case data.
  • Business Data Admin services - which are used to administer case models.
  • Business Resource Management services - which are responsible for distributing and managing work.
  • Directory services - which maintain the runtime organization model and provide all authentication and authorization services.
  • Work Presentation services - which are used to get work presentation details for and perform actions on work items.
  • Pageflow services - which are used to get information about and interact with deployed pageflows.
  • Business services - which are used to get information about and interact with deployed business services.
Web Components (Workspace / Openspace clients) Provides the runtime user interface to TIBCO ActiveMatrix BPM.
