Output Parameters Settings

When a variable is assigned to the S Placement axis in Reporting Tables, double-click on it to display the Output Parameters Settings dialog box, which contains options to configure the computation and display of a statistic for that variable in the data area of the output spreadsheet. Multiple statistics can be computed by adding the same variable multiple times; each appearance of the variable has its own Output Parameters Settings dialog box.

Custom Name. Type a name in this text box that will be displayed in the heading to identify the statistic. By default, this text box contains the variable name plus the statistic name. Frequently, a shorter or more natural name is desired, e.g., Total Sales versus Amount Sum.

Header Style. This option controls the style parameters applied to the header cell containing the statistic name.

Summarize by. From this drop-down list, select the statistic to compute. The list of available statistics is dynamically determined based on the type of variable. See the Glossary for more details about the statistics.

Show Values as. From this drop-down list, specify absolute or relative (percentage) display of the statistic. If a relative display is selected, it is computed against one of several possible total values for the same statistic: row or column (within spreadsheet), page total or grand total. Note that if the Layers axis is not in use, page total and grand total will have the same effect.

Conditional Formatting.

Formatting. This option controls the numeric formatting and style parameters applied to the data area cells in the output spreadsheet containing the selected statistic. The style parameters selected are applied to those cells unconditionally but may be overridden by a conditional format.

+ New. Click this button to display the Add/Edit dialog box, where you can define conditions (based on the value of the statistic in each cell) under which formatting parameters may be overridden. Conditional formatting rules are processed in order, and the first one for which the condition is true is applied to the output cell.
