Estimated Function and Loss Function
Click the Function to be estimated & loss function button on the User-Specified Regression Custom Loss dialog box - Quick tab to display the Estimated function and loss function dialog box. Use these options to enter the syntax for specifying regression models and loss functions. Creating this syntax is straightforward, because it follows the standard notation for mathematical expressions. STATISTICA will automatically check the syntax of the expressions for errors and notify you if there are any.
Element Name | Description |
---|---|
Estimated function | Enter the syntax for the regression equation in the Estimated function box. See General syntax conventions: regression equations for more details. |
Loss function | Enter the syntax for the loss function in the Loss function box. See General syntax conventions: loss function for more details. |
OK | Click the OK button to return to the User-Specified Regression Custom Loss dialog box to proceed with the analysis. |
Cancel | Click the Cancel button to return to the User-Specified Regression Custom Loss dialog box. |
Open | Click the Open button to insert an equation into the Estimated function and Loss function boxes from a previously saved file. |
Save As | Click the Save As button to save the equations specifying a model and loss function. The file is saved in a standard text format so that it can also be edited via other editors (e.g., Notepad); it consists of two lines of text: the model and the loss function. |
Variables | Click the Variables button to display the standard variable selection dialog box, in which you select variables to include in the analysis. A summary of the syntax is displayed at the bottom of the dialog. Additionally, you can consult the examples listed below:
