GLM Quick Specs - Quick Tab
Select the Quick tab of the GLM Quick Specs dialog box to access the options described here. The specific options that are available in this dialog box depend on the Type of analysis selected on the GLM Startup Panel - Quick tab (e.g., the Within effects option is available only if Repeated measures ANOVA or General linear models is selected from the GLM dialog box - Quick tab).

Variables | Click the Variables button to display a variable selection dialog box. Depending on the Type of analysis selected on the GLM dialog box - Quick tab, Statistica prompts you to select one or more dependent variables, one or more categorical predictor variables (grouping variables or factors in the design), and/or one or more continuous predictor variables (covariates). For example, if you selected Simple regression on the GLM dialog box - Quick tab, you are prompted to enter one or more dependent variables and a single predictor variable; if you selected General linear models, you are prompted to specify dependent variables and both (optionally) categorical and/or continuous predictor variable lists. For details concerning different types of designs, and the distinction between continuous and categorical predictor variables, see the Introductory Overview. |
Within effects | Click the Within effects button to display the Specify within-subjects factors dialog box, which is used to specify the within-subjects (repeated measures) factors. In this dialog box you can also click the Custom within design button to display the Effects for Within Design dialog box (see also the Introductory Overview for a discussion of repeated measures ANOVA). In short, the variables in the dependent variable list are assigned to levels for the repeated measures factors. If the number of dependent variables is a multiple of the product of the levels of all repeated measures factors, a multivariate analysis with multiple dependent variables will be computed. When assigning dependent variables to the levels of the repeated measures factors and any multivariate measures, Statistica employs a nested loop, where the fastest moving index is that of the multivariate dependent measures, the next fastest moving index is that of the repeated measures factor that was specified last, the next fastest moving index is that of the repeated measures factor that was specified next to last, and so on. |
Factor codes | Click the Factor codes button to display the Select codes for indep. vars (factors) dialog box for selecting the codes identifying the levels for the categorical predictor variables (grouping variables). Codes must be integer values or text labels (but can be dates, times, etc.), and at least two codes must be specified for each categorical predictor variable. Note that this option is only available if categorical predictor variables (grouping variables) are specified for the current analysis. |
Between effects | Click the Between effects button to display various dialog boxes, depending on the Type of analysis selected on the
GLM dialog box - Quick tab. If
Factorial ANOVA,
Factorial regression, or
Repeated Measures ANOVA is selected, the
GLM Between Effects (Factorial Design) dialog box is displayed. If
Nested design ANOVA is selected, the
Nesting for Between-Group Factors dialog box is displayed. If
Polynomial regression is selected, the
GLM Between Effects (Polynomial Regression) dialog box is displayed. Finally, if
General linear models or
Huge balanced ANOVA is selected, the
GLM Between Effects dialog box is displayed. The options in these dialog boxes are used to specify a custom design for the categorical and continuous predictor variables. If you selected any other Type of analysis, this button will not be available.
If the variable selection includes multiple categorical variables, the default design is main effects only. This is reflected in the text displayed in the text box next to the Between effects button. If you decide that the design for the categorical and/or continuous predictor variables needs to be customized, you can either click the Syntax editor button (in the lower-right corner of the GLM Quick Specs dialog box) to further customize the model via GLM Syntax, or you can return to the General Linear Models dialog box - Quick tab and select General linear models as the Type of analysis.
