Design & Analysis of Central Composite (Response Surface) Experiments - Design Experiment Tab

Select the Design experiment tab of the Design & Analysis of Central Composite (Response Surface) Experiments dialog box to access options to choose the design you want to generate. The experimental design options in Statistica generate standard designs, including small central composite designs (based on Plackett-Burman designs; see, for example, Box and Draper, 1987). Note that Statistica first generates a standard central composite design; the Design of a Central Composite (Response Surface) Experiment dialog box provides numerous options for enhancing the basic design (e.g., by adding center points, replications, etc.).

Standard design (resolution of cube: V+)
Select the Standard design option button to specify a standard central composite design. These are typically constructed from a resolution V (or higher) 2(k-p) design, which is enhanced by center and star points (see Box and Draper, 1987; Mason, Gunst, Hess, 1989).
Small design
Select the Small design option button to specify a small central composite design. These are constructed from resolution III (highly fractionalized) 2(k-p) designs or Plackett-Burman designs (see the Introductory Overview), which are enhanced by center and star points (see Box and Draper, 1987). These designs are very useful when each observation or run for the experiment is very costly.

Factors/blocks/runs. In the Factors/blocks/runs boxes are lists of the standard designs. To select a design, click on it, and then click OK; alternatively, you can double-click on the respective design. Note that only one Factors/blocks/runs box is available at a time.
