Pearson Product Moment Correlation Distribution
Ribbon bar. Select the Statistics tab. In the Tools group, click Calculators. From the menu, select Correlations to display the Pearson Product Moment Correlation Distribution Startup Panel.
Use these options to compute the p-value for a given correlation coefficient, or you can enter a desired p-value and determine the correlation coefficient (based on a specified sample size).
N, r, p, Fisher z
The parameters in this dialog box are N (the sample size), r (the correlation coefficient), p (the significance level), and Fisher Z (the critical value of the distribution).
These parameters can be specified or computed.
To do this, enter values in two of these fields (leaving the other two blank), and then click the Compute button to compute the remaining two values (see below).
Two-tailed
Select the Two-tailed check box to perform a two-tailed test. If this check box is not selected, a one-tailed test will be performed.
Compute p from r
Select the Compute p from r option button to compute the p-value and z-value based on a specified correlation coefficient r and sample size N.
Compute r from p
Select the Compute r from p option button to compute r and the z-value based on a specified p-value and sample size N.
Compute r from z
Select the Compute r from z option button to compute r and the p-value based on a specified z value and sample size N.
Compute
Click the Compute button to perform the computations and send the results to a report (if the Send to Report check box is selected (see below).
Send to Report
Select the Send to Report check box to send the results of the computation to a report.
These values will be sent to a report when you click the Compute button, not when you change the parameters with the microscrolls. Therefore, you can edit the parameters using the microscrolls and review the results in the boxes in this dialog; then, when you are ready, click the Compute button to send the resulting values to a report. Note that this feature is not functional unless you have selected the Also send to Report Window check box in the Options dialog box - Output Manager tab. If that check box is not selected, you will be prompted to select it before the resulting values can be sent to a report.
