Breakdown and One-Way ANOVA

Creates various descriptive statistics (e.g., means, standard deviations, correlations, percentiles, etc.) broken down by one or more categorical variables (e.g., by Gender and Region) and compute a one-way Analysis of Variance. Calculates descriptive statistics and correlations for dependent variables in each of a number of groups defined by one or more grouping (independent) variables (categorical predictors). Displays a summary table of descriptive statistics broken down by the grouping variables.

General

Element Name Description
Detail of computed results reported Detail of computed results; by default the breakdowns procedure will compute Levene's test of homogeneity of variances.

If Comprehensive report detail is requested, some graphs and plots will be computed.

When All results is requested, several Post-hoc tests will also be computed, as well as the (more robust) Brown-Forsythe test of homogeneity of variances.
Deletion of missing data With casewise deletion of missing data, a case will be deleted from all analyses if it has missing data for any selected variable; with pairwise deletion of missing data, a case will only be deleted from the computations for a particular correlation coefficient if it has missing data for either one of the two variables involved.
Creates medians, quartiles Creates the medians and quartiles for the dependent variables for each group.
Creates plot of means Creates the plot of means for all continuous dependent variables
p, for confidence limits Select the p-value for computing confidence limits for the means.
p, for highlighting results The default p-value for highlighting is .05; significant t-tests with p less than or equal this value will be shown in the highlight color in the Results spreadsheets.
Alpha for critical ranges Enter the desired Alpha level for critical ranges; the default alpha level is .05 (0.01<p<.1). This option applies only to the Newman-Keuls test and critical ranges, and the Duncan's multiple range test and critical ranges.
