Defining Variables for Pareto Charts - Quick Tab

Select the Quick tab of the Defining Variables for Pareto Charts dialog box to access the options described here.

Format of input data

There are three different data formats that can be specified as input.

Codes (requires tabulation of data by codes)

When this option button is selected, Statistica expects raw data (codes for categories) that need to be tabulated. The program will automatically create a new category for each new unique data value encountered in the data for the selected variable.

Aggregated counts (one observation with counts per category)

When this option button is selected, Statistica expects aggregated counts, with each case in the data file representing a new category (so that the resultant Pareto chart will have as many categories as there were valid cases found in the data file for the selected variable).

Codes and counts (one variable with defect type, one variable with counts)

When this option button is selected, Statistica expects aggregated counts, and codes to identify to which category each count belongs. Thus, two variables need to be specified; one containing the code values to identify the categories for the Pareto chart, and another containing the counts. Note that codes can be duplicated in the data file, in which case the program will compute the sum of all counts belonging to the respective categories.

Variables

Click the Variables button to display a standard variable selection dialog box. Depending on which format has been selected, you can select either one or two variables.
