Design Simulation
To display the Design simulation dialog box:
- Select Design Simulation on the Distributions & Simulation Analysis Startup Panel - Quick tab
- Click the OK button
- Use the options in this dialog box to specify for each variable in the matrix spreadsheet a specific distribution from which to simulate random data. In addition, there are options to save the selected specific distribution names and parameter values back into the input matrix spreadsheet.
Predefined distributions
Select one variable from the Variables list box and click this button to display the Default distributions dialog box, where the parameters of the selected distribution can be customized.
Set defaults for selected variables
Click this button to specify the selected distribution for each selected variable in the Variables list box as the default distribution specified in the matrix spreadsheet.
Parameters
Click this button to display the Define distributions dialog box, which is used to specify parameters for the selected distribution.
Custom parameterized distributions
After selecting a distribution and specifying the parameters, the parameterized distribution will be displayed in this list box.
Apply
Click this button to specify the selected distribution in the Custom parameterized distributions list to the selected variables in the Variables list.
Matrix
Click this button to produce a matrix spreadsheet of the current correlations and specified distributions for each variable.
Save to input
Click this button to save the current distribution information for each selected variable to the input Matrix spreadsheet.
OK
Click this button to display the Simulation Methods dialog box, where you can simulate random data from the specified custom distributions.
Simulated data can be generated independently for each column, or you can select to preserve the correlation structure between the variables.
