Algorithm

Select one of the options in this group box to determine the type of the algorithm to be used for the response optimization. These include:
Optimization type
Use the options in this group box to specify the required optimization type
Continuous response
- Seek target value: Select this option button to request a specific value of the response variable that the algorithm should seek. This option is available only when the dependent variable is continuous (for categorical variables, use the Seek categorical level option, see below)
- Seek lowest value: When this option button is selected, the optimization algorithm seeks the lowest (minimum) value of the response variable that the predictive models can produce
-
Seek highest value: When this option button is selected, the optimization algorithm seeks the highest (maximum) value of the response variable that the predictive models can produce
Note: Using the
Seek lowest value and
Seek highest value options for models capable of producing unbounded response values are not recommended since they may lead to numerical overflows
Categorical response
- Seek categorical level: This option is available only when the response variable is categorical (classification tasks). Select a categorical level of your choice from the drop-down list for which you want to perform the optimization. In this case, STATISTICA Response Optimization finds a set of independent values for which the confidence level of the selected categorical level is maximum
