GLM Between Effects

Click the Between effects button on the GLM Quick Specs Dialog - Quick tab (or the GLZ Quick Specs - Quick tab) to display the GLM Between Effects dialog box. Note that you must first select Huge balanced ANOVA or General linear models as the Type of analysis on the GLM dialog box - Quick tab for this dialog box to be displayed.

Use default effects for the between design
If you select the Use default effects for the between design option button, the options in the Predictor variables, Method, and Effects in between design group boxes are not available. In that case, the respective default design is created for the current categorical and continuous predictor variables (e.g., a full factorial design for the categorical predictors, and main effects only for the continuous predictors).
Use custom effects for the between design
Select the Use custom effects for the between design option button to select the specific effects for the variables that are to be included in the model. Note that categorical or continuous predictor variables that are not selected into the Effects in between design group box, but were selected via the Variables button on the GLM Quick Specs Dialog - Quick tab (or the GLZ Quick Specs - Quick tab), will automatically be dropped from the analysis. For specific details on how to specify a custom (non-default) design, see Specifying effects for the between group design.

OK. Click the OK button after you have specified the effects to return to the GLM Quick Specs Dialog - Quick tab (or the GLZ Quick Specs - Quick tab).

Cancel. Click the Cancel button to return to the GLM Quick Specs Dialog - Quick tab (or the GLZ Quick Specs - Quick tab), ignoring any changes you have made in this dialog box.

Predictor variables, Method, and Effects in between design. The options in the Predictor variables, Method, and Effects in between design group boxes enable you to specify effects for the between group design using a variety of methods/design types. Select the Categorical and/or Continuous predictor variables in the Predictor variables group box by clicking on them, choose the design for those variables by clicking on the respective button in the Method box, and the effect(s) will appear in the Effects in between design group box.

To reorder the effects in the Effects in between design group box, first select them (e.g., click on the effect or list of effects), then move the mouse cursor to the desired location in the list, and when the mouse cursor changes to the insertion bar , click the mouse button to move the selected effects. More details on the specific options in these group boxes are available in the Specifying effects for the between group design topic.

See General ANOVA/MANOVA and GLM Notes - Specifying Univariate and Multivariate Between-Groups Designs for additional details.
