Nodes - Open Input Document Read-Only
When this command is set (checked), and when the currently highlighted input data nodes represent linked input spreadsheets (that is, source spreadsheets that are not embedded in the data miner project but were opened from a spreadsheet file), these spreadsheets are opened in read only mode. When a spreadsheet is already open with write access (perhaps by someone else opening the spreadsheet from the network) and a second user attempts to open that same spreadsheet, a copy of the disk file is made and opened in read-only mode, since user #2 cannot reliably read from a file that user #1 is writing to.
For example, suppose user #1 opens a workspace project that uses a large spreadsheet located on the network, and he or she opens the spreadsheet with write access. Then, when user #2 attempts to use the same spreadsheet in their workspace project, the program has to make a copy of the respective spreadsheet.
To avoid this extra operation (which, for large input data files, may require a considerable amount of time and storage space), users may want to open large files read-only, in which case multiple users can read from the same file without the need to make extra copies of the file. Note that Statistica Enterprise Server Data Miner always opens all files read-only since no direct and interactive editing is possible without explicitly up/downloading files.
