Statistica General Optimization Startup Panel - Simplex Tab

Select the Simplex tab of the Statistica General Optimization Startup Panel to access the options described here. Use these options to review the optimization settings as specified in the optimization spreadsheet and to modify them to suit your particular experiment.
Option Description
# of iterations Defines the maximum number of iterations for the Simplex algorithm. Depending on the stopping conditions, the algorithm usually takes a smaller number of iterations to complete.
Stop at Specify the stopping condition, which is effectively a convergence criteria defined as the change in function value between two iterations. If the change is smaller than the specified value, the algorithm will stop before the maximum number of iterations is reached (see previous option description).
Penalty The penalty function works in conjunction with the given minimum and maximum values of the variables. If the algorithm strays out of these values, then a penalty is applied to force the algorithm back to the permissible region of the variable space encompassed by the given minimum and maximum values.
Change/review settings Click this button to display a STATISTICA input spreadsheet that you can use to review and/or modify the current optimization settings. Note that any modifications made to this spreadsheet will change the current optimization settings but will leave the original optimization spreadsheet (i.e., the active spreadsheet) unmodified. To make your changes permanent in a new spreadsheet, use the Settings option (see the next option description). Note that any changes you make using this option will also be displayed in the data grid on this tab.
Settings Click the Settings button to create a spreadsheet for the current optimization settings as displayed in the data grid.
