Random Tab

Select the Random tab of the Response Optimization Startup Panel to access the options described here. This tab is available only if the Random algorithm is selected on the Quick tab.

Element Name Description
Sample size Use this option to determine the size of the random sample
Seed Use this option to set the seed for the random number used for generating the random samples. This seed is set to a different value each time you open the Response Optimization Startup Panel. This is to ensure that no two random samples are the same. You can, however, control the value of this seed by modifying the option
Search settings Click this button to display a STATISTICA general user entry spreadsheet for modifying the mean and variance of the uniform random number generator for collecting samples from the independent variables. The defaults are the actual mean and variance of the independent variable calculated from the active data set. The Search settings list is located just below the Search settings button. It provides you with a quick way of reviewing the current settings of the Random algorithm.
Note: To exclude a dependent variable from the Random search, set its variance to zero. In this case, the given mean is used in all stages of the Random algorithm
Search settings Click this button to print the current settings of the Random algorithm to a standard STATISTICA Spreadsheet
