How to Copy Before Case 1

One way to copy and insert the values of a case or block of cases before case 1 is to use the drag-and-drop facilities in Statistica. To do this, first highlight the desired block. Then, move the cursor to one of the borders of the block where it changes into an arrow. To copy and insert the block, press CTRL and SHIFT while dragging the block. Next, position the insertion bar between the variable names and the first row of the spreadsheet and release the mouse-button. Note that this method does not copy the selected cases (that is, the case name is not copied) but only the values of the selected block.

In order to copy a case or block of cases before case 1, use the Copy option [accessible by selecting the Data tab; in the Cases group, click Cases and select Copy (ribbon bar) or using the toolbar button (classic menus)] and enter case 0 (zero) in the Insert after field in the Copy Cases dialog box. Not only will the values of the selected block be copied and inserted before case 1, but also the case names. See also: Copying Cases.
