Copy Variables

You can access the Copy Variables dialog box in the following ways:
  • Ribbon bar. Select the Edit tab. In the Insert group, click Variables and on the menu, select Copy to display the Copy Variables dialog box.
  • Classic menus. On the Insert menu, select Copy Variables to display the Copy Variables dialog box.
This dialog box is used to copy the variable(s) and insert it in the location of your choice. When the variable(s) is copied, all associated components of the variable(s) are also copied, including the display format, data type, long name/formula, and text label assignment.
Option Description
From variable In the From variable box, type the name (or associated number) of the first variable in the range to be copied. You can also double-click in this box to select from a list of available variables.
To variable In the To variable box, type the name (or associated number) of the last variable in the range to be copied. You can also double-click in this box to select from a list of available variables.
Insert after In the Insert after box, type the name (or associated number) of the variable after which you want to insert a copy of the selected variable(s).

You can select a variable from a list of all variables in the spreadsheet by double-clicking (or pressing F2 on your keyboard) in the From variable, To variable or Insert after boxes. After selecting the variable and desired location, click OK. Note that you cannot make a copy of a range of variables within the same range. For instance, if you copy variables 1-10, you cannot insert the copy of this range of variables after variable 5.
