Control Limits

Use this dropdown list to select the control limits type:
- None. If this option is selected, the analysis will not generate any control limits on the
X chart.
- Use defined UCL and LCL
- If
Use defined UCL and LCL option is selected, the analysis will look for variables named
*_UCL and
*_LCL for each characteristic (where '*' is the name of the characteristic) and use the values in the respective variables as the
Upper control limit and
Lower control limit values.
- Each time the value in the
*_UCL or
*_LCL variable changes moving downward in the column, the system will create a new set on the
X chart.
- If a value in the
*_UCL or
*_LCL variable is blank, the system will use the previous valid value found in the respective column.
- If no valid values are found in the
*_UCL variable, the
Calculated UCL will be used as the
X chart UCL value if you select the
Calculate if defined limits are blank checkbox. If it is not selected, the chart will not have a UCL.
- If no valid values are found in the
*_LCL variable, the
Calculated LCL will be used as the
X chart LCL value if the
Calculate if defined limits are blank checkbox is selected. If it is not selected, the chart will not have a
LCL.
- Calculate UCL and LCL
- Calculate UCL . If
Calculate UCL option is selected,
UCL value will be computed for the
X chart and there will be no
LCL.
- Calculate LCL. If
Calculate LCL option is selected,
LCL value will be computed for the
X chart and there will be no
UCL.

Check Control Limits

Select this checkbox to raise an alarm when a control limit violation is found.

Calculate if defined limits are blank
|
Select this checkbox to calculate the control limit under the following circumstances:
- Use defined UCL and LCL option was selected in the
Control Limits checkbox above.
- The variable with the defined
UCL or
LCL has blank or invalid values.

Process Sigma Multiplier
|
Use this miniscroll to select a user defined process sigma multiplier for calculating the control limits on the
X chart.

Control Limit Label type
|
Use this dropdown list to choose the
Control limit label type from the following:
- Number only
- Text only
- Text and number
- None
|
Upper Control Limit label name
|
Use this text box to enter a label for the Upper Control limit when Text only or Text and number options are selected.

Lower Control Limit label name
|
Use this text box to enter a label for the
Lower Control limit when
Text only or
Text and number options are selected.

Control Limit violation name
|
In this text box, enter the
Control Limit Violation name to be used in the generated alarms spreadsheet and on the
X chart legend. This name will be the added in graphs legends and spreadsheet results.
